Life in general can be overwhelming.  Whether you need help for substance abuse or other mental health concerns, there are  ALWAYS people there to help.  You just have to ask.  If you are thinking about harming yourself or others, immediately call 911.  

Elgin Police Department Social Services

The Elgin Police Department's Social Services Unit is comprised of professional, licensed social workers and counselors.  All services are designed to improve family relations, school, and interpersonal relationships.  Services provided may also encompass intervention and prevention of behavioral problems that can lead to criminal activities.  All services are free to residents of Elgin.  Services may include crisis intervention, crisis counseling , individual counseling, family counseling, legal advocacy, and information referrals to other community resources.

The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline provides free &confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24/7 across the US. The Lifeline is comprised of a national network of crises centers combining custom local care & resources with national standards and best practices.
